Powder Coating Lead


You will be responsible for overseeing Powder Coat department operations,leading department staff, resources and inventory in order to meet production schedules, specifications and quality standards.

Essential Functions

  • Leads the Powder Coat team which is focused on the proper application of powder coating material onto parts that have been properly prepared for that application according to established parameters and specifications.
  • Leads wash line chemical change over.  Monitors chemicals in wash lines on a daily basis logging titration.  Makes suggestions to keep chemicals in proper mix for cleaning aluminum and steel appropriately for powder coating.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Receives instructions, prints, schematics and work orders for various jobs.  Plans details of working procedures, staff requirements and material requirements to ensure product quality.
  • Manages inventory of powder paints, equipment spare parts and operation supplies – submits purchase requisitions for materials as needed.
  • Work harmoniously with other departments to ensure that shipping dates are met in accordance with production schedule.
  • Ensure department staff is properly trained in Wash-Line and Powder-Coating techniques and safety requirements.
  • Continually analyzes processes to improve productivity and quality.
  • Assists with Powder-Coating processes as needed – will require utilizing appropriate breathing and eye protection equipment along with protective clothing. May also require the use of other various hand tools when doing assembly.
  • Leads the day to day operation of the Powder Coat department and staff. This includes managing the team to meet production demands timely and efficiently, training, employee relation issues, and performance evaluations. 
  • Resolves material and equipment issues to assure adherence to production schedules.
  • Responsible for overseeing all machine setup, start-up, operation and maintenance.
  • Must follow safety procedures and company policies and coach the staff to adhere to company policies and safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Minimum 2 yrs experience and practical working knowledge of all phases of metal fabrication with an emphasis on aluminum.

  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to read schematics, mechanical drawings and conceptual drawings and apply the information and/or instructions to the production process.
  • Experience using various power tools and hand tools.
  • Must be able to pass forklift certification course.
  • Basic computer knowledge including email and MS Office products preferred.
  • Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess strong problem solving and organization skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent


Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Requires standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require walking periodically throughout the day.
  • May require lifting up to 70 pounds for materials and/or supplies.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
  • Requires exposure to manufacturing areas which may require the use of protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.


Primary environment:  Exposure to a typical manufacturing environment which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.  Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining.  Industrial lighting provided.
