Payroll Manager

Position Summary

The Payroll Manager will manage the organizations payroll function, process a weekly payroll for approximately 1000 employees, process garnishments, and manage state and federal tax compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process an accurate weekly payroll for multiple locations auditing hours from a time system to payroll preview, ensuring new hire hours are entered, time off requests are approved, and error/change reports have been reviewed
  • Respond to garnishments, setup lien payee and payroll deductions in a timely manner
  • Download weekly payroll reports; payroll summary and payroll registry
  • Download and maintain payroll tax reports; setup new tax jurisdictions if necessary
  • Oversee and audit year end payroll processing
  • Communicate to organization as needed on payroll processing changes due to holiday schedules
  • Work as a team with local human resources departments and answer employee questions
  • Work with human resources staff to ensure LOA time off and benefit deductions are occurring
  • Provide a weekly active no pay report to local human resources to ensure terms and LOA’s are identified
  • Process adjustments and manual checks as needed while keeping to a minimum
  • Manage the setup and administration of pay cards
  • Assist with 401k audits and workers’ compensation audits

Job Requirements

  • Bilingual candidate preferred
  • 5-7 years of payroll experience
  • Minimum of three years managing a payroll function
  • Excellent customer service approach
  • Experience with payroll systems a must, Workforce Now or ADP Vantage Highly Preferred
  • Experience with pay cards
  • Knowledge and Federal and State laws as they pertain to payroll
  • High ability to manage/prioritize daily workload and project deliverables
  • Strong project management skills
  • Sense of urgency
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Must be capable of maintaining confidential information
